Object Study
System   |   Posters   |   Fall 2021

Making homemade pasta is a special tradition in my family. When tasked to pick an object to study deeply, a cavatelli maker seemed like a perfect choice. Not only is it aesthetically a very unique piece of machinery, but it allows for an extensive personal history, as well as a broader history of Italian culture.

Simultaneously, research was conducted and the object was photographed. This created all the content necessary to make 20 distinguished compositions that would communicate the essence of the object. Each composition portrays different aspects of the cavatelli maker, and together they made a complete story.

This project allowed for exploration and experimentation of type and image relationships. The constraints of black and white imagery provided a serious, polished, editorial tone to the finished set of posters.
